Victoria BC – An 85-year-old Victoria woman is in hospital with a broken shoulder following a purse snatching that occurred in the 500-block of Simcoe Street yesterday.

The elderly woman was knocked to the ground by a man who had grabbed her purse. A short struggle ensued with the thief ultimately taking the purse and riding off.

During the struggle the woman suffered a broken shoulder.  The woman was taken to hospital for her injuries.

Officers quickly arrived and began speaking to witnesses and started an extensive search for the suspect. A K9 unit assisted in the search, but the suspect was not located.

The suspect is described as a 40-50 year old man wearing a dark baseball hat, dark pants and a dark jacket. He was last seen riding on a bike south on Clarence Street.

Officers continue the investigation and are requesting any information the public may have that would help this investigation.
