Victoria, BC – VicPD is pleased to announce that Cst. Matt Rutherford has been appointed as the next VicPD spokesperson and social media officer. Cst. Rutherford comes to the position after four years of service within the Patrol Section and the Traffic Section, where he managed the @vicpdtraffic Twitter account. Most recently, he completed the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock, helping raise thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer research.

Cst. Rutherford brings a strong interest in social media and believes in sustained engagement with the communities that VicPD serves. “This position is a great opportunity to show the public some of the great work that VicPD does on a daily basis,” says Cst. Rutherford. “I am really looking forward to building on the strong connections that exist between VicPD and the residents of Victoria and Esquimalt.”
