File # 14-23446Date: Wednesday, June 04, 2014Listen: VicPD Patrol and K9 Nab Vehicle Thief in Stolen Car Victoria BC – VicPD’s patrol and K9 officers arrested a 39-year-old Victoria man after the stolen car he was driving was spotted and reported by the registered owners son.Officers were called at approximately 10 p.m. by the son of a vehicle theft victim. The caller stated he was in James Bay and had seen his parent’s recently stolen car. He was able to give detailed directions on where the car was. Patrol officers and Police Service Dog Conan and handler responded to the area and located the vehicle. When the driver stopped at a red light at Government and Superior streets, officers were able to take the four occupants into custody.Not only was the vehicle stolen, but the license plates that had been put on it were as well. The 39-year-old suspect was held in custody for court this morning and officers are recommending a charge of possession of stolen property. The investigation is ongoing.
