**UPDATE – The missing male has been identified. Additionally, he was spotted away from the initial search area this morning. Officers are working to locate him to ensure his well-being now.**

Victoria, BC – VicPD and Search and Rescue volunteers are currently searching Beacon Hill Park in an effort to locate a male who is believed to be suicidal.

Just after 9.p.m. last night, officers were notified that a male made comments about ending his life to Market on Yates staff, and then left in a taxi headed towards Beacon Hill Park. Officers were able to track the taxi to where it dropped the male off on Arbutus Way. Patrol officers immediately conducted a search of the park but were unable to locate the man.

Search and Rescue were notified and are currently scouring the park for the male. Investigators have not yet identified the male, and the only description of him is a photograph.

He is described as a white male, with short, salt and pepper hair, wearing prescription glasses, a yellow and green Hawaiian shirt and having a noticeable birthmark on his face. A photograph of the male is attached.
