Victoria, BC – A Victoria woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision on her bicycle.

Officers responded to the intersection of Esquimalt and Harbour roads for a report of a motor vehicle incident involving a cyclist just before 6 p.m. last night. When they arrived they discovered that the cyclist had crashed at high speed. Several people in the immediate vicinity rushed to help the cyclist and provided first aid until ambulances arrived. She was brought to hospital by the BC Ambulance Service where she remains with life-threatening injuries.

Members of our Collision Reconstruction Team were called out to document the scene and investigate. The investigation lead to the closure of one lane on the Johnson Street Bridge for several hours.

While the file is still under investigation, so far there are no indications that another vehicle was involved in this incident.
