Victoria, BC –Detectives with VicPD’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) are seeking witnesses and information after a man was assaulted with a weapon in Bastion Square last night.
On Friday, February 5th, between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., a suspect assaulted the victim with a weapon in Bastion Square. The victim suffered potentially life-threatening injuries from the assault and attended the hospital for medical treatment.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Patrol officers received a report of the assault while the victim was already receiving treatment at the hospital. MCU detectives are continuing the investigation and are working to gather more information regarding this incident. The victim’s injuries are now considered non-life-threatening.
Investigators are asking to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the assault. Investigators believe the incident occurred between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., on the Bastion Square walkway between Government and Langley streets.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident, and that there is no wider risk to public safety.
