Victoria, BC – Patrol officers arrested one man and are seeking additional information after a man assaulted a staff member at a Victoria restaurant last night.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2nd, Patrol officers were called to the area just outside the Pizza Hut at 911 Yates Street for a report of a man violently attacking a woman.

Officers arrived on scene and found a woman lying on the sidewalk and suffering from non-life threatening injuries from the assault. She was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics. The suspect had already fled the scene.

Officers learned that the victim, a restaurant staff member, had asked two men who were arguing outside the front doors of the restaurant to leave the area. One of the men then attacked the victim, reportedly punching her several times. The suspect then threw the victim to the ground before fleeing the scene.

At approximately 8 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, March 3rd, Patrol officers located and arrested the suspect in the 1000-block of View Street. He was transported to cells at VicPD and remains in custody.
