Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are investigating an assault with a weapon call that saw one person transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries this afternoon.

Just after 3:45 pm, witnesses called 911 to report that a person was being attacked by a group in the 500-block of Yates Street. Officers arrived and located the victim who had been assaulted with a weapon resulting in serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services Paramedics for treatment.

The area where the attack occurred, which is at a busy downtown intersection, has been cordoned off as Forensic Identification Section (FIS) officers attend to document the scene and collect evidence. Police tape is up in the area and temporary traffic disruptions may be required. Please consider taking an alternative route and be sure to not enter the crime scene area.
