Victoria, BC – VicPD Major Crime Unit (MCU) Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire which caused significant damage at a motor vehicle dealership early Wednesday morning.
Just after midnight on July 12, Patrol officers were called to a motor vehicle dealership in the 2500-block of Government Street for a report of a vehicle on fire. Victoria Fire Department firefighters attended and extinguished the blaze, while Patrol officers closed nearby streets to vehicle traffic.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but MCU investigators are treating it as suspicious.
MCU investigators continue to investigate several fires in this area. These fires include a June 16 fire at Douglas Street and Burnside Road, a June 23 fire at a vehicle rental business in the 2500-block of Government Street and a July 2 fire at an unoccupied residence that was undergoing renovation in the 2500-block of Government Street. While no one has been injured in any of these fires, they have resulted in significant damage.
The investigations remain ongoing.
