Police Information Checks
Please note: As of Thursday January 9th, 2025 we will no long be offering open drop-in hours for Police Information Checks. If you require assistance a meeting can be schedule by appointment. Appointments are available Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00am to 3:30pm (no bookings between noon and 1:00).
There are 2 Types of Police Information Checks (PIC)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Information Checks (VS)
- Regular (Non-Vulnerable) Police Information Checks (sometimes referred to as Criminal Background Checks)
The Victoria Police Department ONLY process Vulnerable Sector Police Information Checks (PIC-VS) for the residents of the City of Victoria and the Township of Esquimalt.

1. Vulnerable Sector Police Information Checks (VS)
Do I need a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check?
Only persons who will be in a position of trust involving vulnerable people, require a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check.
A Vulnerable People is defined by the Criminal Records Act as:
“a person who, because of [their] age, a disability or other circumstances, whether temporary or permanent,
(a) is in a position of dependency on others; or
(b) is otherwise at a greater risk than the general population of being harmed by a person in a position of trust or authority towards them.”
Fees
Vulnerable Sector Police Information checks can only be completed by a Police Agency. The processing fee for this service is $80.00. A credit card (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express) is required.
Some Vulnerable Sector Police Information Checks require fingerprinting, if fingerprinting is required you will be advised, and an appointment is necessary. There is an additional charge of $25.00.
Volunteers: Waived
A letter from the volunteer agency must be provided as part of the online application process to ensure the fee is waived.

Please note, if you apply online your completed Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check will be emailed to you in PDF format. We will not send it to a third party.
Employer Validation
Employers can check the authenticity of the document here mypolicecheck.com/validate/victoriapoliceservice using the Confirmation ID and Request ID located at the bottom of page 3 of the completed check.
2. Regular (Non-Vulnerable) Police Information Checks (sometimes referred to as Criminal Background Checks)
I do not need a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check
The Victoria Police Department does not provide Non-Vvulnerable sector Police Information checks. We have provided links to service providers in the area below for your convenience. VicPD staff do not have access to applications submitted to the service providers and are not able to provide assistance with these applications. Please contact the service providers directly for help.

An appointment is only necessary if you have already attempted to complete the the online form above and still require assistance with the Triton form, or if you do not have a credit card. Book an appointment for assistance.
It is recommended you attempt to complete the online form prior to booking an appointment, the process is easy to use and appointment times are limited.
