Victoria, BC – VicPD Detectives are asking for your assistance locating and identifying a male suspect who sexually assaulted a female in the area of Wharf Street and Pandora Avenue, in the early morning hours of July 18, 2024.
Just before 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, a female was approached by an unknown male at the intersection of Wharf Street and Johnson Street. The female was taken to a green space, near a prominent tulip statue known as The Commerce Canoe, in the area of Wharf Street and Pandora Avenue, where she was threatened, then physical and sexually assaulted. After the assault, the victim ran to a group of people nearby and the suspect fled the area.
Responding officers conducted an extensive search for the suspect, and an evidentiary search is ongoing.
The Assault Took Place In A Highly Public Area Near A Prominent Tulip Statue
Given the violent nature of this sexual assault, officers have concerns for public safety. Detectives are asking witnesses and anyone who may have information that could assist in identifying the suspect, including anyone with cellphone, dashcam, or CCTV footage of the area at the time of the assault, to call the EComm Report Desk at 250-995-7654 extension 1.
