Victoria, B.C. – Last night police were called to the 800 block of Johnson Street in response to a 911 call of reports of a man behaving aggressively in public, including yelling at passersby, challenging people to fight, running in and out of traffic and allegedly assaulting a member of the public.
When officers located the individual, he resisted arrest and attempted to flee into active traffic. During the arrest, the individual continued to resist and assaulted an officer. Police intervened using force to safely take the individual into custody. He was transported to the hospital for assessment and treatment.
As required, the file has been referred to the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of British Columbia for further investigation.
