Victoria, BC-  Major Crime Detectives are asking for witnesses to come forward after an early morning, random assault.

Patrol officers were called to the area of Broad and Johnson Streets at 2:45 a.m. on March 26th after the report of an assault. The two victims, both in their 60’s, were assaulted by an unknown man while they were waiting for a taxi.

The suspect then fled the scene prior to police arrival.  The suspect was described as an Aboriginal man in his early 20’s. He was wearing a T-shirt with a graphic, black windbreaker, dark blue jeans and a dark baseball cap with a flat brim.

Investigators are in the early stages of their investigation, and a motive has not been determined.

It is believed that the suspect was inside Paparazzi nightclub for karaoke prior to the assault and sang with another patron. Officers are looking to identify that person, and anybody else that may have interacted with the suspect.
