Update: The suspect has been arrested late this afternoon. He is known to us and will appear in court tomorrow.

Victoria BC – Officers are asking for the public’s assistance after a poppy box was stolen early this morning.

Officers were called to a business in the 2600-block of Blanshard Street at 3:20 a.m. after a man was observed cutting a security cord and stealing a poppy donation box. The man was confronted by another customer and the suspect produced a weapon and threatened to harm the bystander. The man fled the business with the poppy box.

The suspect was described as a Caucasian man in his 20s standing five feet, eight inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing either a dark baseball cap or hood, baggy cargo pants with pockets on the side and was carrying a black backpack.
