Victoria, BC – Two people were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after Patrol and Traffic officers responded to three separate yet unrelated collisions within a 45 minute time period yesterday evening.
18-22809 | Motorcycle Collision with Vehicle Sends One To Hospital
Patrol officers were called to the intersection of Cook and Pandora Streets at 6:17 p.m. for a report of a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle. When officers arrived they discovered the motorcyclist suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcyclist was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Service paramedics.
Further investigation revealed the motorcyclist was driving contrary to his restrictions as a newly-licensed motorcyclist by not having a supervisor with him.
18-22814 | Impaired Driver Hit and Run
Patrol officers were called to the 900-block of Mason Street for a report of a hit and run just after 6:45 p.m. A citizen called 911 to report that a driver had struck a parked vehicle, exited his vehicle and then walked away from the scene while showing clear signs of impairment.
Patrol officers located the driver of the vehicle nearby and took him into custody. He was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and tickets for several motor vehicle infractions. His vehicle was towed. No one was injured.
18-22815 | Cyclist Collision Sends One To Hospital With Non-Life-Threatening Injuries
Six minutes later, at 6:51 p.m. Traffic officers were called to intersection of Scott and Haultain streets for a report of a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist. The cyclist was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries by BC Emergency Health Service paramedics when officers arrived. In speaking with the cyclist and the driver of the vehicle, officers learned that the vehicle had proceeded through the stop sign despite the cyclist having the right of way. The driver of the vehicle also indicated to one of the officers that his vehicle appeared to have a malfunction with the brakes. His vehicle was towed as a result of the non-functioning brakes and he was issued a ticket for failure to yield the right of way.
The cyclist was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
