Victoria, BC – Two incidents kept officers busy overnight last night, and resulted in three people going to hospital, one with potentially life-threatening injuries. 

Impaired Hit & Run | 2018-12947 & 2018-12948

Officers were called to the intersection of Quadra and Finlayson streets for a report of a collision at approximately 0215. When they arrived they discovered a taxi cab had been struck from behind, injuring the two passengers. The vehicle then fled, but was involved in a collision with a telephone pole a short time later in the 3100-block of Finlayson Street. This collision resulted in the pole and wires coming down. Forensic Identification Services officers and Investigative Services Detectives were called to the scene to aid in the investigation. 

The driver of the vehicle showed signs of impairment on scene and was returned to cells. The two passengers from the taxi were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This file remains under investigation.

 

Assault | 2018-12950

Officers were called to the rear of a building in the 900-block of Douglas Street at approximately 0230. There they discovered a man who had been struck in an reportedly unprovoked attack suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries. The man was transported to hospital, where he remains. Forensic Identification Services officers and Investigative Services Detectives were also called to this scene to aid in the investigation. 

The suspect was located a short time later and taken into custody. This file remains under investigation.
