Victoria, BC- A call that involved an armed, barricaded individual has been resolved without incident or injury after a wide-reaching deployment that included officers from our Patrol Division, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team and our Crisis Negotiators.

Officers were called to the 600-block of Nelson Street in Esquimalt for a report of a disturbance. When they arrived, officers noted that one of the people involved returned to a residence and began barricading themselves inside with a weapon.

Officers from our Patrol Division, our Crisis Negotiators and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response team all responded and worked together to defuse the situation and to bring the person out safely. After several hours of work, our Crisis Negotiators proved successful and the individual gave themselves over to officers. They were transported to hospital for treatment.

No one was injured.
