Despite increased fines and penalty points, we’ve seen distracted driving increase to the point that it is now hurting and killing more people on our roads than impaired driving in some provinces. That is why the VicPD Traffic section has partnered with Restorative Justice Victoria, ICBC, RoadSafetyBC, and the Traffic Injury Research Foundation to deliver a distracted driving educational seminar that features Drop It And Drive™ Program Director Karen Bowman and Retired Surrey Fire Service Captain Tim Baillie.

Both hard-hitting and informative, this interactive 3-hour seminar gave first-time offenders an opportunity to learn about distracted driving while taking personal responsibility for driving while distracted. As a result of a 2-day VicPD distracted driving enforcement campaign, 42 tickets were issued and 32 people attended this seminar.
