Victoria, BC –  A Victoria man and a woman were arrested as part of an investigation into the man, who was allegedly dealing drugs, which included fentanyl, from a residence located next to a daycare. Both were taken into custody after officers from VicPD’s Strike Force (SF) observed a reported hand-to-hand drug transaction.

Strike Force officers conducted extensive surveillance after receiving reports that the man was dealing drugs outside of a residence in the 3000-block of Quadra Street. It was during this investigation that officers observed people crossing through the driveway of the neighbouring residence to access the man selling the drugs. Officers became concerned when they noted the presence of children at the neighbouring residence and discovered that it housed a daycare. They then put an arrest plan into place.

Officers took the man and woman into custody on November 30th, after observing what they believed to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction. Drugs, including heroin and methamphetamine were seized from the woman. 43 grams of suspected heroin, 37 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 28 grams of suspected cocaine and over $4000 in cash were seized from the man. Upon testing a sample of from the suspected heroin, officers discovered that it contained heroin, fentanyl and a fentanyl analogue. Samples will be forwarded for additional testing.

The investigation revealed that the man arrested was not actually a permanent occupant of the residence that he was allegedly selling drugs outside of. Instead, he was “crashing” on a friend’s couch. The friend was reportedly taken aback when informed by officers what had been occurring.

The investigation remains underway. The man was held in custody for court.
