Victoria, BC – Officers located the man who was the subject of an alert earlier today in the 500-block of William Street, just after 2:30 p.m. when they were called to a report of a man on a rooftop. Officers determined this man was the same man in the incidents from this morning whom we were looking for.
The man was uncooperative when officers arrived, leading to an activation of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, including the Crisis Negotiators. A short time later, he was taken into custody without further incident.
Officers had been searching for the man, and a public alert issued, after he was involved in an apparent attempted robbery and a theft early in the day. While no one was injured in these incidents, during both the man made statements that caused those involved to be concerned for his health and safety. In both cases the victims called police and shared not only the details of the incidents, but their concerns for the man involved.
