Victoria, BC –  Officers are looking for witnesses as they seek to identify a suspect in a sexual assault that occurred at a bus stop in the 1400-block of Douglas Street on February 8th, 2017.

Officers began their investigation after a young woman called to report the incident. Around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8th the victim was waiting at the bus stop on the west side of the 1400-block of Douglas Street. She was approached by a man who spoke to her and then sat down next to her. Feeling uncomfortable, the victim moved away from the man who then sexually assaulted her. Her bus then arrived and she got on, leaving the scene. She was not physically injured.

The victim then attended her school, where she first spoke with a counsellor and then contacted a parent. Officers are commending her actions in seeking safety and then speaking with a trusted adult.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, between twenty-five and thirty-five years of age, with a medium build, standing five feet, eight inches tall. The suspect has long dark brown or black dreadlocks, a pointed nose, and a stubble length beard. He was wearing a blue plaid shirt, a toque and has pierced ears.
