Victoria, BC – Investigators are looking to speak with witnesses after a Victoria man was arrested for two apparently random assaults.

Officers were called to the 1200-block of Langley Street just after 7 a.m. Sunday after two witnesses observed a man assault a second man. The victim was knocked to the ground, suffering life-threatening injuries. The suspect left the area. One of the two witnesses stayed with the victim, while the other followed the suspect from a distance.

The second witness followed the suspect to the 800-block of Fort Street. A few moments later, officers were called to a second incident there when the same suspect assaulted and robbed a second victim. The suspect then fled the scene. The witness stopped and spoke with the victim and then continued to follow the suspect. This victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was followed by the second witness to an alleyway behind the 900-block of Douglas Street where he was observed changing his clothing. The suspect then headed back towards Fort Street, where he was arrested by officers moments later.

Both victims were transported to hospital. The suspect remains in custody.

Officers are looking to speak with anyone who has information about these incidents who has not yet spoken with police. The suspect was observed to discard and/or change his clothes a number of times in the course of the incidents and was carrying a skateboard during part of the course of action.
