VicPD is proud to announce that Det. Sgt. Kris Rice is being recognized by the International Association of Chiefs of Police with its inaugural “40 Under 40” Award.

The IACP “40 Under 40” Award was developed to recognize forty law enforcement professionals under the age of 40 from around the world who demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment to their profession. The forty dedicated law enforcement professionals selected for IACP’s inaugural “40 Under 40” Award are current and up-and-coming leaders from all over the world in all types of law enforcement organizations.

Det. Sgt. Rice is currently assigned to the VicPD Major Crimes Unit within the Investigative Services Division. In addition to his investigative functions in this role, he provides both supervision and mentorship to other officers.  With 12 years of policing service, 10 of which are with VicPD, he has served in a number of sections including Patrol, Strike Force, and is a proud member of the voluntary VicPD Ceremonial Honour Guard.

“Det. Sgt. Rice has demonstrated time and again throughout his career his dedication, support for his colleagues, and his willingness to engage with the citizens of Victoria and Esquimalt,” said Acting Chief Constable Colin Watson. “It is a real honour for our entire organization that a VicPD officer has been selected for this prestigious international award.‎”
