Victoria, BC – Two people are in custody following an investigation after a man reported being shot while boarding a boat in the Gorge Waterway.

Shortly after midnight, officers and the BC Ambulance Service responded to the report from the victim. When they arrived at one of the docks off Jutland Road, officers and paramedics met the victim who was suffering non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital.

The Greater Victoria Emergency Response team was deployed. In efforts to keep the surrounding community safe, the Gorge Trestle was closed. The RCMP, Victoria Fire Department and Greater Victoria Harbour Authority responded with their boats in support.

Two persons were taken into custody at approximately 6 a.m. this morning without incident.

Initial investigation indicates that all parties involved were known to each other. The boats involved in the incident have been secured and ISD officers continue to investigate.

At this point investigators are confident that there are no outstanding suspects involved in this isolated incident and that there is no risk to the general public.  Two persons of interest remain in custody at this time.  Criminal charges will likely follow in the near future. The victim is recovering.
