Victoria, BC – A Victoria man is facing several charges and a VicPD officer is recovering from injuries after an impaired driving arrest on Saturday night.

Patrol officers observed a man driving a truck erratically at the intersection of Government and Fisgard Streets just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 30th. When officers attempted to pull the truck over, the driver refused to stop, but then attempted to park his truck in the 500-block of Herald Street. During his attempt to park his truck, officers observed the vehicle strike and knock over a parking sign. Officers called for back-up and approached the vehicle.

The man became confrontational and combative with officers, who were required to deploy a series of tools to take him into custody, including a conducted energy weapon (CEW) which was not effective, as well as OC spray. During the arrest one officer received non-life-threatening facial injuries. The man was not injured, but was decontaminated by BC Ambulance Service paramedics. He was transported to cells where a breathalyzer test was conducted. Our officer was treated medically for his injuries.

Kit Warren, a 41-year-old Victoria man, faces two charges of obstruction of a police officer and two impaired driving charges.
