Victoria, BC – VicPD detectives are investigating a stabbing that occurred in the early morning hours that sent one person to hospital.

VicPD patrol officers attended to the 800-block of Burdett Ave shortly after 3:40 a.m. for the report of  a stabbing.  Police located a male running away from the area and officers gave chase. After attempting to evade police through alley’s and parking lots in the area, police were able to take the male into custody in the 900-block of Blanshard Street. This person of interest remains in custody and is known to police.

The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries that require surgery, and police believe that this is an isolated incident.

Police are actively searching for the knife believed to be used in this incident and would like the public to be aware should anybody locate this critical piece of evidence.  If you do locate an item like this in the area, do not touch it and immediately call 911.
