UPDATE – Thanks to your tips the Toyota truck has been recovered. The motorcycle and red hoodie are still being sought by officers and we still need your help to find them.

Victoria, BC – VicPD investigators are asking for your help in locating two vehicles used in a series of incidents in the night of Saturday, December 12th.

Just before 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 12th, officers were investigating a stolen truck in the 600-block of Constance Avenue in the Township of Esquimalt. As officers were investigating, a suspect in the theft attempted to flee from a nearby location on an un-plated motorcycle. Not wearing a helmet, the suspect rode the motorcycle from the scene in a manner which officers felt put both himself and others at risk, so officers, having identified him, did not pursue him in an attempt to reduce the danger.

Moments later the suspect returned to the stolen truck. Patrol officers moved in while the suspect was starting the vehicle. The suspect became combative with officers and used the stolen truck to push other vehicles out of the way. The suspect again fled at high speed, with officers again declining to pursue, given the weather and road conditions.

The suspect was located in the 1300-block of Quadra Street a few hours later and taken into custody without further incident.

Officers are looking for the two vehicles motorcycle believed to be involved.

  • 1987 grey Toyota pickup truck with canopy. License plate HF7124. This vehicle has a large, gold tiger face painted on the hood and a red tailgate. This truck was last seen in the 700-block of Admirals Road, but believed to be located somewhere between VicWest and Downtown. This vehicle was recovered in the afternoon, Monday, December 14th.
  • Dark-coloured motorcycle, without plates or tags. Officers believe this vehicle to be hidden somewhere within a few block radius of Constance Avenue and Esquimalt Road. This motorcycle could be parked in a lot, hidden behind a dumpster, or stashed in a yard or bushes.
  • Officers are also looking for a discarded red hoodie, also believed to be in the Constance Avenue and Esquimalt Road area.

The suspect remains in custody, and officers are recommending charges of two counts of Dangerous Driving, Assaulting a Peace Officer, Possession of Stolen Property, two counts of Driving While Prohibited, Failure to Remain At the Scene of a Collision, Failure to Stop For Police. Additional charges are likely to be recommended.

If you see the stolen truck, the discarded red hoodie, or notice a strange motorcycle which appears to be stashed, you are asked to call the VicPD Non-Emergency line at (250) 995-7654, or to call your local police agency.
