File #     15-40904

Victoria, BC – VicPD Patrol Officers are seeking witnesses to an assault which occurred on a BC Transit bus, sending the operator to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred on the route 4 bus  on Douglas Street just before 1:30 p.m. today. The investigation so far reveals that the suspect appears to have approached the driver to request to get off the bus at Douglas Street at Kings Road. That stop is no longer active. When the driver refused, the man allegedly attacked while the bus was still in motion. The driver was able to pull over the bus at the intersection of Douglas and Bay Streets while the attack continued. Passengers fled the bus and the assault appears to have continued as the driver himself left the bus.

The assailant then fled the scene. He was located north of the location of the original incident and taken into custody. The driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Many of those passengers on the bus left before speaking with officers and our investigators would like to speak with anyone who was on the bus if they have not done so already. Additionally officers would like to speak with anyone who has information about this incident. If you have any information about this incident you are asked to call (250) 995-7654.
