Victoria BC – Over $70,000 worth of cars were written off last night after two individuals drove them off the end of Clover Point.
Officers were called to Clover Point, along Dallas Road, at approximately 1 a.m. after reports from a witness that two new cars had driven off the end of the rocks, crashing approximately 40-feet below.
When emergency services arrived, they found a 2015 Ford Mustang and a 2014 Infinity Q50 with heavy damage. Thankfully the drivers and one passenger were relatively unharmed.
The witness at the scene said both vehicles appeared to be speeding towards the turnaround and failed to stop or turn in time, propelling the cars straight off the end.
Officers investigated and ruled out impairment, but do believe speed played a contributing factor in the incident.
The drivers, two 20-year-old Richmond men, were issued tickets for driving with undue care and attention.
The Victoria Fire Department (VFD) secured the vehicles and they were towed out. A small amount of fuel was spilled on the rocks and Emergency BC was notified of the cleanup efforts.
