Listen: Serial Break and Enter Suspect nabbed by K9 Team
Victoria BC – Early yesterday morning, a serial break and enter suspect was nabbed by a VicPD K9 team after an alarm call at a business in the 1700-block of Richmond Avenue.
The lone K9 team arrived at the business mere moments after a call came into the VicPD Communication Centre at approximately 3:30 a.m., alerting officers to a possible break and enter in a business in the 1700-block of Richmond Avenue.
Cst. Almeida arrived first with his partner, Police Service Dog Conan. Cst. Almeida got out of his police car and noticed a broken window that could have been used to gain entry into the business. As he looked around he heard movement inside the business and went to get PSD Conan who was in the car.
When almost at his car, a man came out of a door that was next to the business. He was stopped and was recognized by Cst. Almeida as a person who he had investigated for break and enter in January of this year.
The man was taken into custody, and as other officers came on scene, more evidence was found linking him to the break and enter.
Officers are recommending the 48-year-old Esquimalt man be charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.
