Yesterday, VicPD officers were called to an unusual complaint of sunbathing at a kids’ park at Haultain and Blackwood streets, where the subject in question was a large blanket of drying marijuana.

A concerned citizen called the VicPD communications centre just after 10 a.m., reporting a man sitting near the kids park with a blanket full of drying marijuana.

Officers arrived to indeed find a 29-year-old Victoria man sitting next to the blanket, just as described by the caller.

Although the man argued that marijuana possession was legal, it is indeed not, and the items on the blanket were catalogued and seized by officers.

The man, and his 24-year-old friend were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

No matter what your views are on marijuana legalization, drying your bud in the open sun at a kids park is likely a bad idea.
