Blog | Call for “used clothes donations” leads to bags and bags of clothes, suits and a kid’s bike

Our people are called to do good.

That’s true of many who are called to work in policing. Despite what some who are critical of our people may say, members and professional support staff join our ranks do so to make positive changes in our community.

It’s part of who they are.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that have an unexpected impact. A few weeks back an internal email went out calling for donations for clothing for families for the Burnside Gorge Community Association. They do fantastic work in our┬ácommunity and reach out to help those in need. Their programs are inspirational and deeply valuable. The email asked for gently used clothing.

The response is a bit overwhelming. Our Community Resource Officer van is filled to the brim with bags and bags of used clothing, including suits and professional wear. One of our members even located a child’s bike to donate.

All of these clothes will go to help families in need in our community.
