Victoria BC – As VicPD, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate the sudden death of a 19-month-old toddler that occurred early Saturday morning, additional information is being released.

VicPD can now advise that officers spoke with the mother of the deceased toddler a second time on Friday, July 17, after receiving reports from citizens who were concerned about her loud praying and actions inside the Masjid Al-Iman mosque at 2218 Quadra St. Those reports were similar to an earlier call for service at Clover Point. Investigators have now spoken with all of the witnesses to the mosque incident.

As with any serious investigation involving VIIMCU, information can only be released to the public once investigators are satisfied that doing so will not harm the investigation. Further information will be made available whenever possible, as the investigation continues.
