You’re Invited: Citizen Who Went in Harm’s Way To Aid Stranger To Be Honoured with Civic Service Award

Victoria, BC – A Victoria man who put himself in harm’s way as he came to the aid of a victim of an unprovoked attack is being honoured with the VicPD Civic Service Award at tonight’s Victoria and Esquimalt Police Board meeting.

Officers Searching for James Bay Bank Robber

VicPD investigators are searching for a male in connection with a robbery at a James Bay bank this morning.

Just before noon today, officers responded to reports of a robbery at the James Bay Bank of Montreal. Investigation revealed that the male approached a teller and demanded cash. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured. Officers flooded the area, but so far have not located the suspect.

Esquimalt Division Launched

Her Worship, Mayor Barb Desjardins, the Chief Elsner, officials, and residents along side VicPD members, staff and volunteers ushered in the launch of VicPD’s Esquimalt Division on Friday, January 9th at the Esquimalt Public Safety Building. While our policing framework agreement with Esquimalt went into effect on January 1st of this year, the ceremony marked the official launch of the Division, introduction of the staff dedicated to serving Esquimalt and unveiled two newly marked Esquimalt Division vehicles.

Seeking Witnesses to Incident Aboard BC Transit Bus

Victoria Police are seeking the public’s assistance with an incident which occurred on the #27 BC Transit bus on Monday January 5, 2015, whereby a suspect inappropriately touched a female.

After the incident, at approximately 6:00 pm, the #27 Bus stopped at a bus stop at Pandora Ave and Quadra St and the driver asked all of the passengers to leave the bus.  Victoria Police are interested in speaking with any of those passengers, as they are potential witnesses to the incident in question.
