Officers Cite 74 Distracted Drivers In September Blitz

Tuesday, October 1, 2019

Victoria, BC – Officers wrote 74 tickets to drivers who were using an electronic device behind the wheel during a plain-clothes operation that targeted distracted driving throughout the month of September.

Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of death and injury on B.C. roads. In an effort to help make our roads safer, the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General and ICBC provided support for focussed distracted driving enforcement this past month.

Traffic officers in plain clothes took to high-collision intersections and roadways once a week throughout the month of September as part of our efforts to curb distracted driving. These officers were backed up by officers in uniform who pulled the distracted drivers over and issued tickets.
