August 2nd marks the 26th Annual Symphony Splash where the talented musicians of the Victoria Symphony take to that famous barge on the Inner Harbour. This year’s event features some exciting soloists too. The event is funded by on-site donations.

In order to transform the Inner Harbour into a concert hall, we’ll be closing roads along Belleville and Government Streets for much of the day. The initial road closures start at 0500 along Belleville Street, and then progressing to the full closures along Government, Belleville, and Menzies Streets from 1400 until the event ends with fireworks after 2200. There’s a handy map below.

In the past, it became somewhat of an unofficial tradition for people to “reserve” their spots for the concern by chaining chairs to the barriers near the concert area. It is a violation of City bylaws and frankly, not a very nice thing to do. Bylaw Officers will be monitoring the area and Public Works will be removing chairs to a storage facility where they can be retrieved after August 6th.
