Victoria, BC – The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and VicPD investigators are investigating the suspicious death of an 18-month-old girl in the 1200-block of Vista Heights.
Patrol members were called to a residence just before 6:00 a.m. this morning to check on the welfare of the persons there. They discovered the child, an 18-month-old Victoria girl, who succumbed despite efforts to resuscitate her. The girl’s mother was taken to hospital.
We are not releasing the victim’s identity at this time. There is no danger to the public and the investigation is ongoing.
Our thoughts are with this young girl’s loved ones. Our responding officers, who are deeply impacted by this tragic event, are being supported at this difficult time.
