Giving Back to the Community
VicPD has a proud legacy of community members joining with us to give back through service to Victoria and Esquimalt. We’re incredibly proud of our VicPD Volunteers and volunteer Reserve Constables, who selflessly give back many hours of service to Victoria and Esquimalt each year.
There are two main VicPD volunteer teams.
The overall goals of the VicPD Community Engagement Volunteer Program are to support the Victoria Police Department’s crime prevention objectives, and to be a part of building strong community connections. By fostering a positive relationship between the community members and the Victoria Police Department (VicPD), our volunteers help to keep our communities safe.
Our diverse Community Engagement Volunteer Team includes individuals of various ages and backgrounds. Some are students, office workers and retirees who are looking for a stimulating volunteer opportunity that allows them to give back to their community. Others are considering a career in law enforcement and want to gain invaluable experience.

VicPD Reserve constables are a unique opportunity to give back to your community. Reserves are sworn volunteer peace officers, and in addition to performing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) audits and Lock Out Auto Crime patrols, they augment officers serving on the street by helping screen for impaired drivers at impaired driving check stops and Late Night Great Night patrols in the bars and nightclubs of Victoria’s downtown core.
