Listen: Head Back to School in Safety with VicPD

Victoria BC – Monday marks the start of the school year for public schools in B.C. and VicPD will be out helping to ensure a safe transition back into school.

Officers and volunteers will be out at schools throughout Victoria and Esquimalt during the first week back to school, helping to reinforce safe driving behaviour before and after school.

Over the years, officers have noticed poor driving behaviours that put our school-aged kids in vulnerable situations. Distracted driving, parking in ‘no park’ zones and failing to yield for crosswalks are common offences, and create a hazardous atmosphere.

The goal of every parent, school officials, and officer is to ensure every child gets to and from school in a safe manner.

VicPD’s traffic section will be joined by Bike patrol officers and volunteers throughout the week.
