VIIMCU and VicPD Identify Deceased Man and Continue to Search for Clues

Victoria BC – The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and VicPD have identified the deceased male from Thursday’s suspicious death as Shaun Alexander McGregor.

Officers were called to the 1500-block of Begbie Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night where they discovered McGregor. The 34-year-old Victoria man was pronounced dead on scene.

The building and a large section of the 1500-block of Begbie Street were cordoned off as officers investigated.

An autopsy is scheduled in the coming days to hopefully determine the cause of death.

Investigators are also seeking the public’s assistance in locating Chelse Burns, a person of interest, who may have information that could further the ongoing investigation.  Investigators are asking Chelse Burns, or anyone who knows her whereabouts, call VicPD on the non-emergency line at 250-995-7654.
