Victoria BC – The search for evidence in the missing persons case of Dana McKellar continues today.

Utilizing ground penetrating radar and electromagnetic mapping technologies, as well as experts in clandestine grave identification and an RCMP helicopter that is being used for aerial surveillance and photography, VicPD, Saanich PD and RCMP officers continue their search of the property.

During the search officers recovered a stolen piece of excavation equipment on the property. It is not known, at this time, what, if any role it plays in the current investigation.

The contents of the barrels located on Tuesday were deemed to be non-toxic by the Capital Regional District Hazmat Team.

McKellar was reported missing to VicPD in September of last year. After a comprehensive investigation, VIIMCU was brought on board to lead the search.

Through the investigation it was revealed that McKellar had been previously assaulted in July.

Over 90 officers are expected to search for over 6300 person-hours in the search for evidence while utilizing experts in clandestine grave location.

Businesses on the property are not related to the ongoing investigation, have been very supportive, and continue to be open for operation.

The investigation continues and officers are expected to be on scene until early next week.
