Victoria, BC – VIIMCU’s search of a Saanich property in the disappearance of Dana McKellar continued throughout the weekend and has led officers to newly recovered evidence related to the investigation.

Officers from the Saanich Police Department, RCMP and VicPD have kept up the search of the large Saanich property on Goward Road. Despite temperatures in excess of 30 degrees Celsius, the 90 officers remain determined to unearth more clues into Dana McKellar’s disappearance. Investigators are not yet prepared to identify the evidence they recovered over the weekend, pointing to additional searching and excavating that remains.

Late last week, officers recovered a piece of stolen excavation equipment as they conducted a search of the Saanich property. This excavation equipment joins other items collected in the search that are being investigated further.

Dana McKeller was first reported missing to VicPD in September of last year. After a comprehensive investigation VIIMCU was brought on board to lead the search. It was discovered that McKellar had been previously assaulted  in July.

While the search is on-going, the businesses which run on the property continue to operate as normal. Officers from all three agencies have worked to minimize disruptions, and in turn, businesses on the Goward Road property have worked well with officers conducting the search.

If you have any information about Dana McKellar’s disappearance, you are asked to please call the VicPD non-emergency line at (250) 995-7654 or report it anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
