Victoria, BC – Officers are investigating after a brief pursuit and collision lead to the arrest of three individuals this afternoon.

Just after 1 p.m. this afternoon a plain-clothes VicPD officer called 911 after spotting a vehicle involved in an alleged firearm incident in Saanich this morning. When back-up officers arrived, the suspect vehicle fled the scene at high speed. Out of concern for public safety, officers briefly pursued the vehicle for a short distance at which time the chase was called off. However, the suspect vehicle crashed at Craigflower Road at Alderman Road moments later and two of the vehicle occupants fled. Officers, including a K9, gave chase on foot.

A nearby motorist who observed one of the suspects fleeing intervened to assist in the apprehension of the suspect at the same moment our police service dog made contact with the suspect. Both the suspect and the good Samaritan received non-life-threatening injuries in the arrest, requiring brief medical treatment. Three individuals were taken into custody. No one else was injured. The OPCC has been notified.

Craigflower Road remains closed at this time officers gather evidence on scene.
