Officers recently seized ATM Card skimmers in three different locations. These card skimmers, which are placed over top regular card input slots, collect financial data from credit and debit cards and pass this information to fraudsters. One of these skimmers also had a pinhole camera which collected hours of PIN data.

Financial Crimes Det. Sgt. Derek Tolmie spoke to reporters and demonstrated how these skimmers work. To protect yourself from these sophisticated thieves, give a light tug on the ATM card reader. If it has glue on it or comes loose, give us a call – you’ve uncovered a fraud attempt.
