Original Release:

Patrol officers are investigating after a brazen thief stole a collection jar in the 900-block of Yates Street on December 30th.

On December 30th, at approximately 3:15 p.m. a youth golfer was collecting money to be able to attend a golf tour in Scotland in 2017. While the youth golfer was getting warm inside, the father stayed behind to mind the table. A man dressed all in black approached the table, reached down, took the jar of money and fled the area. A man dressed all in grey is also believed to be involved in the theft (a picture of the two men is below). The father gave chase, but fell trying to catch the suspects. The suspect had attended the table earlier and asked the young golfer what they were raising money for before leaving and later returning to steal the money.

UPDATE: Survilleance video is now available of the theft –

Police attended and searched the area and were unable to locate the suspects. Of note, the attending officer replaced the money that the young golfer had raised.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance to identify the suspects involved in the incident.  If you witnessed the theft, or have any information, please call our non-emergency line at 250-995-7654.
