“It is important to remember those who have been injured or lost their lives to work-related incidents and to ensure we are doing everything possible in creating healthy and safe workplaces.” – A/Chief Del Manak

Victoria, BC – Today is the International Day of Mourning for Persons Killed or Injured in the Workplace.

A/Chief Del Manak has ordered our flags to half-mast and the Day of Mourning for Persons Killed or Injured in the Workplace Flag flown.

In 2016, VicPD officers and civilian employees reported 108 injuries on the job. Injuries include broken bones and lacerations from assaults, exposure to infectious substances from spitting incidents, exposure to hazardous chemicals during drug busts, and post-traumatic stress injuries.

We also remember our five fallen officers, who gave all they had to protect the citizens we serve.
