Victoria, BC – Shortly after 4:00pm yesterday, VicPD members attended Fisherman’s Wharf for the report of shots fired.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team was utilized along with VicPD K9 and the Crisis Negotiators. Officers were able to determine what vessel the man was aboard and quickly detained him without incident. There were no injuries.
A search didn’t reveal any evidence that it was in fact a gunshot and the man was released a short time later without charges.
Officers would like to thank the public for their patience yesterday while we investigated these reported gun shots. When we receive reports such as these, we need to take the appropriate steps in order to make sure everybody is safe including both the public and the responding members.
