Victoria, BC – VicPD officers and volunteers will be working alongside members of the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority team, Transport Canada, and staff from local businesses including Coast Hotels, Spinnakers, the Delta Hotel, Red Fish Blue Fish, the Laurel Point Inn, the Chateau Victoria, and the Steamship Grill in efforts to clean up the shores of Victoria’s iconic Inner Harbour. The event will see volunteers, staff and VicPD officers cleaning up debris and garbage left along the Harbour Friday morning from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.

Now in its fourth year, the Clean Up The Shores partnership has resulted in the removal of a combined total of hundreds of kilograms of garbage. While inspired by similar shoreline cleanup events, this initiative is a made-in-Victoria event that brings together businesses and service organizations to clean up and bring awareness to protecting Victoria’s unique harbour environment.

You can follow along with live updates from both the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority and VicPD on Twitter using the #cleanuptheshores2017 hashtag. VicPD will be broadcasting the final weigh-in of recovered items live on our Facebook page around 11 am. For more information visit facebook.com/victoriapolicedepartment.
