Victoria, BC – Patrol officers, with help from our specially-trained Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) officers and VicPD K9, have given the “all clear” after responding to a bomb threat at the Courthouse.

Officers were called to the Victoria Courthouse in the 800-block of Burdett Avenue just before 4:00 p.m. today after B.C. Sheriffs reported they had received a bomb threat. Patrol, Traffic and other officers responded and helped secure the scene and evacuate staff, prisoners and members of the public. Nearby roads were closed out of an abundance of caution.

Working in concert with B.C. Sheriffs, our EDU team and VicPD K9 officers were able to clear the building. No threatening devices were located and the all clear was given just before 5:30 p.m. Roads were opened a short time afterwards.

No one was injured in the incident, which remains under active and on-going investigation. There have been no arrests made.
