Man Reported Armed With Handgun Arrested Downtown

Victoria, BC – A man who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant and believed armed with a handgun was arrested by Patrol officers in downtown Victoria this afternoon.

Patrol officers flooded the area after the man was spotted on his way into downtown Victoria just before 2pm today. Officers located the man just outside of Centennial Square. The man attempted to flee but was captured by officers. During the course of the arrest, the man dropped a handgun.

After the man was taken into custody, officers discovered that the handgun was a convincing replica. A photograph of the recovered replica firearm is below.

There were no injuries.
